Hello VOX...
Vox's Question of the day (for all of us who have no idea what to write in their first post EVER):
What have you tried in life that you just weren't very good at? Cooking. I'm a HORRIBLE cook. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE food, and I love the finished product of a good recipe, and the IDEA of putting together something delicious... but when it comes to using any (and I mean ANY) kitchen appliance, I fail miserably. Quite sad, I know.
Now that the QotD has been answered, I guess I should introduce myself... since such a thing is customary when you meet someone for the first time...
Yeah... That'd be ME!
Hi! *shakes hand* My name is Amanda. I'm 19 years old, currently residing in the sunny, yet not very warm, Orange County, California. I was born and raised in the same town I still live in, and have lived in the same house since I was 2, which obviously means I still live at home. My parents met and married in the same small town in Upstate New York, and are still together 27 years later. I have a younger sister named Lauren, half way through her Sophomore year of High School at my old alma mater.
Beautiful, right? Yeah... too bad the people are assholes...I graduated High School in June of 2006, when I was 17, and did a one year stint at California State University of Long Beach (CSULB). Now, keep in mind all throughout my school years, I was a nerd. You know, the kids with the glasses and the math and science book covers, carrying around a French dictionary everywhere they went, always with character shoes, a few plays, and a very LARGE backpack with anything and everything to help me get A's in my classes. Which, for the most part I did. I was a Theater kid all throughout my schooling, and had decided at the age of nine that Acting was what I was gonna do with the rest of my life.
Once I got to college, however, the thrill of not being looked after 24/7 and being able to CHOOSE whether or not I made it to class got the best of me. I became lazy, and got too involved in things I SHOULDN'T have been doing to care about GE courses. The classes I DID attend, however, I did well in. Needless to say second semester of my freshman year did not go well, and I decided rather than spend 4 years in college getting a degree in Theater Arts, I would make an attempt within those 4 years to break through the glass ceiling of the acting world and see if I could get anywhere. And, if not, go back to school and try and find something else I could potentially be good at and not hate.
The only problem with the latter statement: acting is the only thing I've ever been really any good at. Sure, I did well in school, but most of that was ACTING my way out of shit I didn't want to do, and BS'ing my way through things that didn't really matter to me. So... if these next 3 and a half years don't work out the way I plan... what then? Am I destined to be a receptionist like my mother for the rest of my life? Sitting a cubicle 9-5, unhappy with my position and my wage?
Let's hope not...
So, at the moment, I am an AVON Representative, also looking for a part time job, merely so I can have some income to support my weekly trips to Los Angeles to audition/see agents/visit my friends, as well as saving up to FINALLY move out and up to LA.
Now... if you took the time to actually READ all of this (and I promise, this will probably be the only LONG post you will ever see outta me) you're probably wondering... well, has she DONE anything yet??
Why yes, yes I have.
This past February I filmed my first movie EVER, called Two Million Stupid Women. I was in 2 scenes, had 8 lines in total, and got paid. I am now officially an Actress, thank you very much. To see the IMDB page for TMSW you can click here. I've also done some modeling for DV Magazine, and was part of the S3 Supergirl Jam Fashion Show in Mission Beach, CA. And, I've been working on a short for my reel called Home by Jay Holben. It's not finished yet, but when it is it will be viewable online, and I will be sure to post some serious linkage.
So... there's your intro. I'm gonna spiffy up this blog. Lot's of photos, video's and such will be posted frequently, as well as random thoughts and updates from me. Enjoy the new blog!
Oh, and before I go... I'd like to let all of you know that I'm also a LifeCaster. I broadcast on a network called Justin.tv. I broadcast daily (usually) and chat with folks, play good music, and discuss anything and everything your little heart desires. Feel free to join in on the chat, considering most of my posts will coincide with something going on in my life, and you can see it live on My JTV Broadcast. Here's a little clip from on of the crazier moments...
